Get Lips Like Kylie Jenner: Tips to Fake Fuller Lips

You may have heard about the latest makeup craze to hit the globe: #KylieJennerLips. All the cool kids are doing it, and I’ve become slightly obsessed as well. The youngest of the Kardashian crew has all of us longing for fuller lips just like the ones we see when she posts a new selfie on Instagram. Kylie has some serious lip lining skills (and potentially some other help, but that’s a different story). Either way, I had to learn how to do it too. That’s why I met up with MAC COSMETICS Senior Artist Caroline Donnelly who says the trick is similar to the way we shade our eyelids with eyeshadow. “We’re darkening the corners and lightening the bits you want to bring out,” she says.

The first step is to give your lips a rounded shape with a lipliner in a shade that’s slightly darker than your actual lip color. To do this, she says to follow along the outside of your lip line in short strokes and trace over the cupid’s bow to create more of a bridge, instead of a bow. Then fill in your lips with the lip pencil. She used MAC Lip Pencil in “Spice” on me.

Next, use a darker lip pencil like the color “Stone” to shade in the corners of your lips and create a shadow to make them look even rounder and put the focus on the center of your mouth. Just don’t forget to blend the line so it’s not noticeable.

Then it’s time for lipstick. She used MAC Lipstick in the color “Kinda Sexy” on me, but you can use any color that is lighter than the first lip pencil you started with. Again, you want to draw attention to the center of your lips.

Finish your pouty lip look with either a lip pencil like Donnelly used on me in the color “Naked Liner” or a concealer to trace around the top of your lips and fully define the shape.

And you’re finished! Who says you can’t keep up with a Kardashian? Watch the video below to see Donnelly take me through the entire process, along with some of her really great tips. Then scroll to the bottom to shop this makeup look!
