My First Spray Tan Experience with St. Tropez

My First Spray Tan Experience with St. Tropez

There aren't too many beauty treatments that I pass up. Tell me a needle is involved and I'll get injected. Dye my hair or cut it? Sure, why not? But for some reason, I always say no to spray tans and opt for sunless tanning products in the comfort of my own home instead. I can't really tell you why. Maybe in the back of my mind, I have a fear of looking too dark or like I might audition for a remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. There's also the thought of stripping down so a stranger can get into every crack and crevice with her airbrush. It just doesn't sound like a desirable experience.

But I recently changed my mind. I live in sunny Los Angeles where everyone is in shape and sports a healthy glow, and just about all of my friends swear by their spray tans. It makes you look thinner, hides flaws and can even make you look more contoured. All of those qualities make it sound worth it. That's why I decided to step up and get my first spray tan with the knowledgeable (and super friendly) Sophie Evans of St. Tropez. After all, if I'm going to do this, it might as well be with one of the best brands and experts out there, right?

St. Tropez has spas all over the world, as well as products that are pretty fool-proof including their St. Tropez Self Tan Express, which can be washed off after one hour if you just want a touch of color.

Watch my first spray tan experience in my personal vlog posted below. It was a fun-filled day with my friend Sharzad Kiadeh and I have to say, the tan looked really natural, didn't have a super strong smell afterwards (it was very slight) and best of all, it faded beautifully over the week. I never looked orange or saw one streak. It looks like spray tans might be a regular occurrence in my future now. It gets a thumbs up from me!

It's hard to believe I have never had a spray tan. Only because I have been a beauty editor for about a decade now (yes, for YEARS) and you would think I would have tried it at this point. Don't get me wrong, I've had opportunities, but I always turned them down because I wasn't sure I would like it.
