Philosophy and Ellen Pompeo Want to Take the “Anti” Out of Aging

We live in a culture obsessed with stopping the clock on aging: We turn to expensive skincare products, injectables, lasers, plastic surgery, and more to look younger. But Philosophy and Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and are on a mission to take the “anti” out of aging.

For their new CoolAger campaign, Philosophy replaced the “anti” in anti-aging with “cool” and brought in Pompeo to empower women to live their best lives now. The “cool” also is a nod to their new Uplifting Miracle Worker Collection that features cool-lift technology inspired by cryotherapy, which is know to calm inflammation and boost collagen production.

The two toasted their partnership and the launch of the new line at an event in LA last night, which included a cute Vespa-powered photo booth. (Did you see our Story from the event? You’ve still got time if you follow us on Instagram now!)

The collection features three products: an eye cream, a moisturizer, and a moisturizer booster. All three products work to lift, smooth, and firm the skin while also giving it a more radiant appearance. They also have a soothing cooling sensation when you apply them.

“Everybody talks about the bad side of aging, but aging is a gift that not everybody is given the privilege of,” says Pompeo. “Because any woman knows the older we get, the more we’re capable of — the smarter we are, the more confident we are, and the more things we can juggle.”

For the campaign, Philosophy released a video that pokes fun at how women are told they’re on a “steady decline into old age and cultural insignificance.” Their goal is to promote a new reality of aging where “middle age” can be the coolest part of one’s life.

“You have to embrace aging, the good parts about it, because nothing stays the same and if you try to hang on to something you can’t possibly hang on to, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.”

Intrigued by cryotherapy? You can learn all about it in this episode of The SASS below.
