Forget avocado toast — sweet potato toast just might be our new favorite kind of toast. It's gluten-free and packed with fiber, which will help you stay full longer. Plus, it's an excellent source of vitamin A which is great for your hair, skin, nails, and immune system. If you haven't tried it yet, we rounded up some tasty recipes that'll make you hop on the bandwagon. But first, here are a few tips to helps to help you get it right:

  1. Make your slices 1/4 inch thick – too thin and they'll burn, too thick and they take too long to cook.
  2. Toast your sweet potato slices twice to cook them perfectly.
  3. Make sure your knife is sharp! This will help you get even slices.

First up, this sweet potato toast recipe from Downshiftology makes for a super tasty breakfast. All you have to do is top your toasted sweet potato with prosciutto, smashed avocado, spinach, and a poached egg.

Next, try this simple avocado sweet potato toast recipe from health coach Lisa Johnson from Eat Clean LA. While you toast your sweet potato, mix together avocado, peas, a squeeze of lemon juice, and sea salt to top it with.

And if you're looking for a healthy appetizer to bring to parties, these sweet potato bites with avocado and bacon from Well Plated will be a hit. Cut the sweet potato width-wise to make small medallion shaped toasts. Then, mash together avocado, 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon lime juice, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika. Put the avocado mixture on the toast and top with bacon bits and cilantro.
