What Beauty Editors and Insiders Really Want For the Holidays This Year

"I know the word 'life-changing' is thrown around way too often on the Internet, but when I got the original 1.25-inch Beachwaver three years ago, it was literally life-changing. As member of the Can’t Curl My Own Hair Club, this rotating iron lets me curl my hair in 10 minutes flat—and, the kicker, it actually looks professionally done. Now that I have shorter hair, I can’t wait to add the 1-inch iron to my hair care army." — Lindsay Schallon, Lipstick.com Senior Digital Beauty Editor

"Well, on my dream wish list, the one I would circulate if I were a Kardashian, the Deesse Premium LED Mask takes the #1 spot. Despite my unimpressive track record with anti-aging devices, I’m convinced in wearable mask-form I’d be so much more successful. However, considering it costs about as much as a reasonably priced sofa, I’ll stick to my handheld Reverse red light and the occasional facial from Joanna Vargas (also on my wish list). Now back to reality: I would love the Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil from Christophe Robin. I have generally healthy hair — hair masks are not in my typical rotation (and when I do take the time, it’s always with a drugstore steal) — but this season it’s been uncharacteristically dry. I recently received a sample of Christophe Robin’s mask—the one that everyone raves about—and I’m absolutely, 100% hooked. I went from straw to silk in one shower. And it doesn’t leave my hair greasy or weigh it down. My baby-sized jar is nearly gone and I can’t imagine not having this mask in my shower, so I’m hoping the gift of Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil finds its way under my tree this year." — Deven Hopp, Byrdie.com Beauty Director

"So expensive, but so worth it! I like that it's a foundation and concealer all in one so I can throw it in my bag for easy touch-ups; it's also full coverage but still looks natural. It blends easy and is so creamy, plus it lasts all day. Add a little Mac fixer to it and literally will lasts all day! Looks [even more] flawless when applied with an Artis brush." — Molly Sims, model and actress

"I already know that I should be drinking waaaay more water — but since I'm a technology and statistics geek, having a futuristic beauty gadget tell me precisely what I need to do might be the trick to getting myself to guzzle down more aqua." — Danielle Directo-Meston, MixedMakeup.com Editorial Director

We’ll be the first to admit that working in the beauty industry definitely comes with perks (read: freebies). While we’re definitely not ungrateful for the random products that land on our desks daily, there’s something about unwrapping a personalized present from our holiday wish list that we especially appreciate this festive time of year.

Given that beauty editors and makeup artists get paid to be obsessed with the latest lipsticks, skincare products, and gadgets, we asked a few of our friends (including our own crew) what they’d really love to find underneath the Chrismukkah tree this December.

Scroll through the gallery above for the top picks that beauty editors want, then tell us in the comments what beauty presents would give you joy this season.
