This New Smart Brush Actually Listens To Your Hair

Move over, Mason Pearson: there's a pricier brush coming to town — and it's smarter, too. Kérastase and L'Oréal just unveiled the Hair Coach smart brush at CES 2017, and it might just be the hair whisperer that our damaged tresses have been waiting for.

The high-tech hairbrush is powered by Nokia's Withings technology, allowing it to count your brush strokes, analyze the state of your strands, and (get this!) literally listen to your locks. A microphone picks up soundwaves to "hear" frizziness, split ends, breakage, and dryness; sensors can tell whether your hair is wet or dry; and a gyroscope and accelerometer work together to analyze your brushing speed. Overzealous brushes, be warned: the Hair Coach will vibrate if it detects that you're brushing too hard.

The futuristic brush also connects to an app that's part-health scorecard, part-hair doctor: users can see the status of their mane and even get routine and product recommendations based on their diagnosis.

As far as availability and pricing, Withings says it'll start taking orders in fall 2017 and CNET reports that the Hair Coach will cost "under $200" — not bad, considering beauty buffs will shell that out for combs that don't connect to your iPhone.

Intrigued? Watch the video below to learn more and tell us in the comments if you'll be adding the Hair Coach to your high-tech beauty bag when it comes out later this year!
