Jay Manuel Skin Perfector Foundation is Even Better Than Expected (Review)

Jay Manuel Skin Perfector Foundation is Even Better Than Expected (Review)

Mention the name Jay Manuel and the first thing to pop into mind are Tyra Banks and America's Next Top Model. But did you know the television host and makeup artist also has a makeup line? I didn't either, so I had zero expectations when I tried the Jay Manuel Skin Perfector Foundation ($38). However, I'm obsessed with it now.

This foundation is silicone-based like most makeup primers. Silicone helps to create a smooth surface and fills in fine lines, wrinkles, and scars so that your makeup goes on evenly. One of this product's main selling points is that it doesn't settle into any creases or pores, so it eliminates the extra step of a makeup primer.

In addition to silicone, it contains micronized silk that works like an Instagram filter for your skin to help blur any imperfections. It also absorbs any excess oil so your skin won't look too shiny. And then there are the skincare ingredients like vitamins A, E, and C that infuse your skin with antioxidants and moisture. It's also anti-aging and helps protect your skin from environmental damage.

At first glance, the packaging is super unique. It's a sleek flat tube with one side that shows the foundation shade. The foundation side is squishy (for lack of a better word) and the other side if solid. To get the product out, you just press down on the squishy side.

I applied it with my trusty Beauty Blender and immediately liked what I saw. It goes on smoothly and a little goes a long way. It feels hydrating like a tinted moisturizer, but it gives you more coverage than one. It hides redness and any imperfections you have without looking like you have thick pancake makeup on.

My favorite thing about this foundation is that it gives your skin that coveted candlelit glow. It has just the right amount of luminosity without making your skin look too shiny or greasy. I've tried other products that promise this and most of them fell short.

This foundation comes in 12 different shades from pale to dark, so there's bound to be a color for everyone. Plus, you can always mix colors to get the truly perfect shade!

I'm really curious to try more products from the line to see if they're all as awesome as this foundation is. Tell me in the comments if you have any recommendations!
