How To: Selena Gomez Makeup Look from the Met Gala

How To: Selena Gomez Makeup Look from the Met Gala

With the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme, the 2016 Met Gala was filled with dark and daring makeup—dark lips, gold brows, you name it. But Selena Gomez's makeup artist Hung Vanngo, decided to do go for a minimalistic look instead to contrast her edgy Louis Vuitton outfit.

The first step is to prep the skin. Vanngo opted for ten minutes of Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque ($32). Then, he applied the rest of her skincare using Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate ($46), Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream ($28), and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado ($29).

To key to make your skin look flawless like Gomez is to keep your foundation, concealer, and powder simple. Gomez wore Chanel Vitallumiere Foundation in 40 B ($60), NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer in Custard ($29), and NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder ($37).

For her eyebrows, Vanngo kept it natural with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21) and set them with Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($22).

Then, Vanngo created a soft, smokey eye using thick lines of a pencil eyeliner, Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Raven ($20), that he blended out. Instead of eye shadow, he used MAC Glitter Reflects Gold ($22) on the lid and lower lash line. For the lashes, he placed individual Ardell lashes ($4) on outer corners of the eyes to keep the look natural. Top it off with a black mascara like Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara in Black Extase ($30).

Then it's time for highlighter, bronzer, and blush. Focus the highlighter on the cheekbones and tip of the nose, bronzer along the hair and jawline, and blush on the cheekbones. On Selena, Vanngo used Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Killer Cheekbones ($68), Tom Ford Bronzing Powder in Gold Dust ($68), and Beauty Artistique Blush in Duchesse ($32).

On Selena’s lips, Vanngo used Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm ($9) followed by Covergirl Lipperfection Lip Liner in Seduce 210 ($8) and Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Crème 230 ($6).
