7 Easy Ways To Get Younger-Looking Skin

7 Easy Ways To Get Younger-Looking Skin

We may be living in a world where lasers and magnets can rejuvenate our skin, but one futuristic device we're still waiting for? A gadget that can turn back time — which is why skincare is key to staving off signs of aging.

Read on below for seven simple tricks to get younger-looking skin.

Wear Sunscreen

This may seem like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how many people forget to wear sunscreen. According to the FDA, UV rays break down the collagen and elastin fibers in our skin, resulting in dark spots and leathery texture over time. That's why it's important to choose moisturizers and foundations that already have at least SPF 30 — that way, you don't have to worry about yet another step in your skincare and makeup routine. And if you must get a golden glow, opt for organic spray tanning instead of catching real sun-rays.

Get Your Full Beauty Rest

Caffeine may offer a slew of beauty benefits, but nothing can replace a full night's sleep. A few ways to get the recommended eight hours is to cut off coffee after 3 p.m., avoiding screen time one hour before bed, and ditching workouts three hours before light's out (exercise can give us an extra energy boost).

Be Easy On Your Eyes

Our facial skin is thinnest underneath our eyes, so be careful not to be too aggressive when applying makeup or products there. Instead of rubbing on under-eye concealer, pat product on instead.

Keep Your Pores Clear

Larger pores are among the signs of aging, but using pore strips regularly can help clear out the gunk (buh-bye, acne!), while making pores appear smaller.

Don't Forget Retinol

Products with retinol are proven to help boost collagen production, which in turn prevent fine lines and reduce wrinkles. In addition, retinoids encourage cell turnover, resulting in brighter skin. Just be diligent about sunscreen as retinol can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

Add On Antioxidants

Antioxidants help repair damaged skin and fight free radicals that accelerate aging, so adding this key element to your skincare routine is a must. Opt for serums that are packed with vitamins — these products absorb better into skin and tend to contain more active ingredients than most moisturizers.

Slather on Serum

Speaking of serums, it's best to find a product that treats a variety of concerns. We recently partnered with philosophy to share one of our favorite new products, Time in a Bottle 100% In-Control Serum ($76). It not only treats past and present skin damage, but it also protects your future skin by activating natural ability to fight aging using a blend of himalayan red rice, plantain, and red grape ferment.
