The Best Acne Spot Treatments Recommended by the Mixed Makeup Facebook Group

If you have a beauty, specifically skincare, related question, then our private Facebook Group “Beauty Questions Answered by Mixed Makeup” is the place to go. No matter how specific your question is, there’s always someone out of our almost 30,000 members who has a helpful tip or product you can try. One topic that comes up a lot is acne, so here are the best acne or pimple spot treatments ranked in order of popularity by our Facebook group members.

These were one of the first hydrocolloid patches to sweep the US market. The idea is so simple, yet so genius. You place a patch on top of your pimple to protect it from the environment and from yourself (lookin’ at you, pimple pickers).

This one is a classic acne spot treatment. It contains three key ingredients: salicylic acid (to exfoliate), sulfur (to absorb excess oil), and calamine (to soothe). All you have to do is dip a cotton swab into the bottle until it hits the bottom and the dot it onto your pimple. But DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE, you want the pink layer to be settled on the bottom.

These pimple patches take the concept of the COSRX patches a step further with their microdart technology. These teeny tiny little “spikes” infuse salicylic acid, niacinamide, and other acne and inflammation fighting ingredients under the surface of the skin to treat the pimple directly. It’s a great option for those deep under the surface, painful pimples.

It appears our Facebook group really likes hydrocolloid pimple patches because here is yet another option. They protect your pimple and also infuse ingredients like salicylic acid, vitamin A, and aloe vera.

The star ingredient of this acne-fighting gel is saw palmetto which helps control oil, reduce shine, and prevent breakouts. It also contains the usual suspect, salicylic acid, to help fight pimples. A big selling point of this product is it’s supposed to help correct lingering discoloration left behind by pimples.

While this product does contain a small amount of salicylic acid, it’s not the star of this formulation. Instead, it contains colloidal sulfur, a glycolic acid complex, aloe vera, and other acne-fighting ingredients.

This one has a “maximum strength” two percent salicylic acid formula that promises to reduce blemish size and redness in about four hours. Pretty impressive and it must be true since it comes highly recommended by our Facebook group members.
