Can This Makeup Brush Do it All?

Can This Makeup Brush Do it All?

What if I told you that there was only one makeup brush you needed to get a flawless face? You’d think I’m crazy right? With all the makeup brushes out there today, narrowing it down to just one seems impossible. I was first introduced to Becca’s The One Perfecting Brush ($49) online. The One Perfecting Brush is advertised as a one-brush wonder that does it all—we’re talking primer, foundation, powder, contour, blush, highlight, you name it! But that got me wondering: can you really use it for everything? I decided to test it out and apply every step of my makeup routine with this brush and only this brush.

This brush is made with dye-free goat hair and the bristles are densely packed in a 3.5-inch horizontal design that supposedly allows for better control during makeup application.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it for liquid products. My primer was done in five seconds flat, and it evenly blended my foundation in no time (the same goes for concealer). The large surface area is made for quick and easy application, which really comes in handy if you're always in a rush in the morning.

Surprisingly, I found that the brush was too thick to contour my cheekbones—I thought that would be my favorite part! I tried different application techniques, but none gave me the results I was looking for. While it wasn't so great at applying cheek contour, it was awesome when it came to blending.

The brush was also fantastic for powder and blush. For blush, put the product on just one end because it gives you better control when you apply it. For highlighting, the brush was a bit too dense and the bristles absorbed too much of the powder, so I didn't get very much on my face.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this brush. It's my new favorite way to blend, apply powder, and contour my forehead and chin. The shape of the brush makes storage and travel a little difficult, but it’s that weird shape that gives you control throughout your makeup application. This brush is a blending dream that saves you from harsh lines, so if you tend to have a heavy hand, you need this brush in your life!
