Affordable Hair Wavers to Get the Beachy, Mermaid Hair of Your Dreams

Affordable Hair Wavers to Get the Beachy, Mermaid Hair of Your Dreams

I’m all about affordable hair tools — you can get beautiful results without shelling out hundreds of dollars. The Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer ($40) is proof! Lately, I’ve been really into mermaid-inspired beach waves, so I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching hair wavers. I wanted to purchase one that was affordable, but also had great reviews. I’m happy to share the results of my search with you!

First, I’d like to introduce you to the hair waver I ended up going with: Bondi Boost Wave Wand ($58). Even though this was the most expensive hair waver on my list, I ended up picking it because it has the largest barrel size I could find at 32mm. The tricky thing about hair wavers is that they walk a very fine line between mermaid waves and 80s crimp. I knew if I got a larger barrel size, then I would more likely avoid the crimped hair look. This wave wand has an adjustable temperature between 80 to 210 degrees Celsius (that’s 176 to 410 degrees Fahrenheit to us Americans). It was pretty easy to use and gave me the exact mermaid hair look I envisioned. Plus, it looks really sleek! I’m very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this wave wand. Watch this video below to see how I use it and the final results.

And now for the runners-up.

Revlon 3-Barrel Ceramic Jumbo Waver ($25)

Many moons ago, I stole this waver from my sister after trying and loving it. I got many years of good use out of it until it was mysteriously lost in a move. I would’ve repurchased it, but decided it was time to try something new. This heats up to 420 degrees Fahrenheit and has 30 different heat settings. It’s really easy to use and I was able to achieve my mermaid dreams with it.

Alure Three Barrel Curling Iron Wand ($40)

I came thiiiiis close to purchasing this wave wand, but what it ultimately came down to was the barrel size. This one has slightly smaller one-inch barrels compared to the Bondi Boost’s 32mm. Otherwise, the style is pretty similar and it has a four and a half star rating on Amazon with almost 9,000 reviews.

Bed Head Wave Artist Deep Waver ($30)

This product comes up on almost every list of wave wands. That’s because it’s highly rated on Amazon (four and half stars with almost 22,000 reviews). It has a very unique waver barrel that’s basically one big U-shape and I like the simplicity of the heat setting – it’s just on and off.
