The Best Drugstore Sunscreens for All Skin Types and Skin Tones

The Best Drugstore Sunscreens for All Skin Types and Skin Tones

The skincare community unanimously agrees that sunscreen is the most important part of your skincare routine. Sunscreen is your best defense against wrinkles, sunburn, and skin cancer. However, applying (and reapplying) sunscreen can feel like a chore, especially when you don’t love the sunscreen you’re using. If you’re in the market for a new sunscreen look no further! Here are some of the Mixed Makeup team (and friends) favorite sunscreens from the drugstore.

Bondi Sands SPF 50

Susan’s Pick

It’s no secret that Susan LOVES her sunscreen, and lately, she’s been reaching for the Bondi Sands Face SPF 50 ($10). “The formula is very moisturizing which is great for my dry skin, but doesn’t leave me feeling greasy.”

La Roche Posay’s Melt in Milk SPF 60

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Nina Desai is an expert when it comes to sunscreen and she loves the La Roche-Posay’s Melt-in Milk SPF 60 ($36). “It’s a powerful sunscreen with both UVA and UVB coverage, along with a powerful antioxidant complex to really protect that skin. This formula is so smooth and silky that it actually melts into the skin making it great for all skin tones. It’s non-comedogenic, so it’s great for acne-prone and sensitive skin as well.”

La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Fluid Facial SPF 60

Humid Miami days are no match for The La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Fluid Facial SPF 60 ($30), which is why it’s Amy Michaels Koberling (aka @the_skinthusiast on Instagram) drugstore favorite. “This sunscreen is lightweight and dries with a matte finish. It’s perfect for normal to oily skin types. La Roche Posay’s Cell-Ox Shield technology includes antioxidants that help your skin cells fight off damage from UV and other environmental aggressors. I find myself reaching for this sunscreen most Summer days.”

Black Girl Sunscreen

Terrell Britten loves trying new sunscreens, and this Black Girl Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 ($16) has found a permanent place on his roster. “I love that this sunscreen was made with people of color in mind. It keeps me protected and doesn’t leave a white cast.”

C'est Moi Tinted Moisturizer

Anna Fryxell’s Pick

Anna Fryxell is all about a simplified routine, which is why she loves this sunscreen-moisturizer hybrid. “The C’est Moi Tinted Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 ($16) has the added benefit of being tinted, so it can also be my foundation for the day. It has a light coverage, so it covers any redness, but doesn’t feel too thick or heavy.” It comes in four shades and she wears the shade Ivory.

Bliss Blockstar

Carly Rivlin’s Pick

Carly Rivlin isn’t usually a fan of mineral sunscreen but has been obsessed with the Bliss Blockstar Invisible Daily Sunscreen SPF 30 ($20). “It’s light on my skin, comfortable to wear, and sits well under makeup. It also has a super subtle, barely-there tint that works great with my skin tone. I know this is going to be one of my go-to sunscreens this summer!”

Aveeno Positively Radiant Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30

Phelisha Cassup’s Pick

When it comes to sunscreen all that Phelisha asks is that there’s minimal white cast and this Aveeno Positively Radiant Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 ($15) delivers. “This drugstore gem has been my go-to lately. It’s moisturizing and feels great on my skin, there’s no white cast, and it’s super affordable!”
