Get your Best Beauty Sleep Ever with these Products and Tips

There was a time in my life where all-nighters were the norm, but these days I’m in bed by 10PM at the latest. Even though I have nowhere to go, I still get up every morning at 6AM to do my workout and have some me time before I start work for the day. Call me what you want (my friends call me “Granny P”), but I am a better, more productive person when I get eight hours of sleep.

While sleep is important for our overall wellbeing, it also has some major beauty benefits. I chatted with Aster Haile, Head of Wellness at Ipnos, about how sleep keeps us beautiful.

“A good night’s sleep — seven to nine hours — allows cells and tissues to regenerate and your immune system restores itself,” says Haile. When it comes to your beauty routine, sleep may be the closest thing to the fountain of youth. That’s because collagen (what keeps our skin plump and bouncy) is produced while we sleep. Sadly, there are no products that can outperform a good night’s rest, “Sleep is the key to beauty preservation and its health benefits are simply irreplaceable,” says Haile.

Here are my favorite tips and products to get the best beauty sleep ever:

Invest in a Really Good Pillow

Investing in a good pillow is one of the best adult decisions I’ve ever made. Your pillow can make or break the quality of your sleep. My favorite is The Endy Pillow ($60) because you can customize the thickness of the pillow to your preference. It’s filled with shredded memory foam, making it super moldable and perfect for cuddling, and infused with charcoal and bamboo to help regulate your body temperature.

Screens Away

My friends hate me for this, but on weeknights I have a strict no screens after 9PM rule. My job requires me to be online pretty much all day, so I like to take the final hour of the day just for me. Swapping my phone for a book improved my sleep tremendously, right now I’m reading The Defining Decade by Meg Jay.

Set the Mood

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray ($29) is the only pillow spray you’ll ever need. This aromatherapeutic spray combines lavender, chamomile, and vetiver — all of which helps calm the mind and body and reduce any sleep-associated anxiety. I love taking it with me on my travels because it makes wherever I am feel like home.

Time for Tea

There’s nothing like snuggling into bed with a warm cup of tea. The methodical process of making tea helps me to destress and unwind before bed. I like chamomile and lavender teas, but any caffeine-free tea should do the trick. Herbal teas aid with digestion and a cup at night majorly reduces my morning bloat.

Chill Out

I can’t be the only one who gets so freaking hot when they sleep! I spent countless nights tossing and turning until I found the BlanQuil Chill Weighted Blanket ($349). It’s quite the investment (I suggest bookmarking it for your Christmas wishlist), but worth it if you find it hard to sleep when you’re hot but also need blankets. I’ve been training myself to sleep on my back and the weight of the blanket helps keep me still.
